NPO Energia
The successor to Korolev''s OKB-1, NPO Energia (later RSC Energia) designed and built the Energia super-heavy launch vehicle and the Buran space shuttle. Energia was the second most powerful rocket ever flown when it launched in 1987, capable of lifting 100 tonnes to low Earth orbit. The organization also continued development of the Soyuz spacecraft and played a central role in Russian contributions to the International Space Station.
