Rockwell/Boeing

Rockwell/Boeing

Rockwell International built all five Space Shuttle orbiters -- Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour -- as well as the main engines (SSME/RS-25) and the orbiter''s thermal protection system. The Shuttle orbiter was the most complex reusable spacecraft ever built, with over 2.5 million parts and 230 miles of wiring. After Rockwell''s merger with Boeing, the Shuttle legacy continued under Boeing''s Space division through the program''s retirement in 2011.
