Khrunichev
The Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center, manufacturer of the Proton rocket, which served as the Soviet Union and Russia''s heavy-lift workhorse for over five decades. Proton launched every module of the Salyut and Mir space stations and numerous commercial satellites. With over 400 flights, Proton was one of the most-launched heavy-lift vehicles in history. Khrunichev also developed the Angara rocket family as Proton''s eventual replacement.
